Hello everyone, welcome to your first day of training. Thank you for taking time to come along this wonderful journey. If the ride ever gets uncomfortable, feel free to get off. For the many people reading this, we are about to enter the fall season and for athletes(track and field athletes especially), the fall tends to symbolize a reset and a restart. Everyone comes back out of shape and the key here is to get back in the shape the athlete once was. When one hears of fall training we all think of getting in shape physically but never mentally.

How many athletes ACTUALLY train their minds just as much as their bodies during the fall? Often times we as athletes neglect the mental side of sports; we only focus on getting physically better and sometimes at the expense of our own mental health. The hard truth is once an athlete get's to a certain level, the ability to perform becomes more of a mental battle than a physical battle. Everyone is putting in work, everyone is getting down and dirty on the field but if your mind isn't right then what good is that work? The hard workouts are cool for bragging rights but if one is experiencing a mental block then how will the performances match the work they're putting in. I'll give you a hint, it more than likely won't match.

I say all of this to say that your mind needs to be trained just as much as your body does. I've listened to several podcasts, read several books, sat in seminars and all the elite performers say the same thing. The other beauty of mental training is that you don't need to be an elite athlete to train your mind. They all do some sort of mental training and the blog will serve as some sort of mental training. A training log that you can come back to for reference anytime you need it.

Until Next Time,
