Hello readers, welcome to another training session. As the Thanksgiving and the other holidays approach, it is always a reminder to remember what you're grateful for. So today I thought it would be fitting on how to practice gratitude more frequently. Gratitude is sometimes hard to practice because it takes hard work to be grateful especially when circumstances are less than ideal at the time. However, when one is able to practice gratitude life becomes much better and situations become easier to handle as well. It's hard to complain when you're in a state of constant gratitude. Research has even shown that when you practice gratitude you gain health benefits such as better physical/mental health, improved sleep, higher self-esteem, and even improved relationships.

Here are some ways to start practicing gratitude:

  1. Write down a list of the things you're grateful for. Keeping notes of what you're grateful for will allow you to actually be mindful of them. It can be anything from super small to those huge milestones in your life.

  2. Learn to not compare yourself with others Comparing yourself to others is an easy way to not be grateful for what you have. You never know what blessings you already have because you're busy looking at what others have. Remember, your food will get cold looking at someone else's hot steamy plate.

  3. Give/Serve more Giving back and serving the community not only helps others but it in return it helps you. It allows you to take stock of your own life and realize how good you actually have it at times. When you bless others, you bless yourself. It's also much better to give than to receive.

  4. Learn to say "thank you" often This is important because the more you say thank you to others and even yourself, you'll brighten the person on the receiving ends day.

  5. Train yourself to see the good in everything Perspective shifts are important in this life because your perspective dictates your life. When something doesn't particularly go your way, remember that there's always another situation that could be worse. Additionally the fact that you're alive is enough of a reason to be grateful. You might take an L here and there but as long as you're alive, the L's sometimes aren't as harsh as we might make them seem. What good would be a W if you died the next day and can't even enjoy it.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this. I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving and I hope that we can all take time to practice gratitude more often. So let's make gratitude our attitude. Until Next Time,

E.Ibadin
